I went in for an interview the other day thinking that I could possibly fit in very well with this company. I did some research on them and saw that they were in home improvements promotions; I got excited. As I pulled up to the office building I saw 15 college students standing outside an office that just sad MARKETING. Knowing that the market is hard and a lot of people are looking for jobs that didn’t scare me much, but than when I walked in, there must have been 20 more college students in the waiting room.
This waiting room, mind you, had ESPN on the Television, and B-96 a local rap station playing over the speakers. This instantly set my radar off. I walked up to the desk to tell them that I was here and she seemed surprised that I was early(15 mins). She also didn’t know what my name was, which was ironic because she had called an hour earlier to tell me that they were very excited to meet me. I filled out some paper work, sat down and waited for my name to be called.
As I sat, I watched people come in and out of this office building. Some interviewees were going in, than within 6 minutes heading out with an employee and leaving the office. As I got called in I sat down in an office that had trophies and awards all over the wall. Than the worst interview of my life took place. This guy that called himself “Doug” started to ramble about how successful he is and how much money his company makes. He than started to tell me how I would be able to move up in the company and soon manage a branch just like his.
6 minutes went by and I didn’t say a single word. He than told me that If I was a candidate I would receive a phone call around 5 that night. Well sure enough at 5 I get a phone call saying I made it. He told me that the second interview would be the next day and that I should be prepared to talk because this time the interview would be much more intense. So I really did a ton of research on the company, so I knew what I was saying. This is what I found…

Almost word from word what I experienced up to that night, and telling me what I could expect to experience about the second interview. Needless to say I didn’t go back in.
Don’t expect college students to be so stupid. We have the internet and know how to use it. Thanks for wasting my time company.
I hope this posting helps people, and doesn’t make them waste their time. Good luck on the job search…
